What Keeps Comms Pros Up at Night (and What to Do About It)
This morning started the pre-conference workshops at Ragan Communications' Social Media Conference for PR, Marketing and Corporate Communications hosted at Disney World. Mark Ragan, CEO, kicked off the morning session by asking attendees what keeps them up at night.
The answers were interesting:
- How to be more transparent
- How to get your company and executives to be completely open and accepting of social media
- How to have a more engaged workforce
- How to bring it all together
Based on the reactions from the other attendees in the room, these are common issues most communications professionals are dealing with on a daily basis. We are not alone!
So what can we do about it?
I think the answer to this can be somewhat easy. It comes down to three pieces of advice: Keep learning. Get creative and try new things. Never give up.
Social media and digital communications tools are literally changing by the hour. Not only are the mediums constantly evolving but the users and their habits are also changing. The best thing you can do as a communications or social media pro is to always keep learning and adapt to the changes in real-time. In our industry, continuous learning is key.
Get Creative & Try New Things
Sometimes success comes out of pure experimentation. You have to be creative, try new things then analyze the results. If it didn't work for you, make adjustments and try again.
Never Give Up
Seriously. Keep going! If it's not working for you, try again. If it is working for you, don't settle for what works—eventually it will get boring—build on your success!
So no worries, fellow comms pros. We're not alone!
