4 Tips for Great Storytelling that Makes an Impact
"It's our job as communicators to make what is important, interesting." This is a great quote from Jim Ylisela, President of Ragan Consulting, on what our job as communicators really entails. Yes there are events and newsworthy things for us to report on but it is our job to make them interesting, and of value, to our audiences.
Sounds easy, right? Maybe not?
Here are four tips to use to ensure your content is telling impactful and engaging stories:
1. Create a good emotional tie
Your content should create an emotional tie for the audience. An appropriate emotional impact will leave a lasting impression
2. Be personal
Make the story seem personal to the reader. Make them feel signaled out and special.
3. Be timely
Make sure your your story is timely, whether that means time of year or timely in relation to when the event actually took place.
4. Offer an appeal
Somewhere in your story you need to include a call to action. Really drive home a message for your audience to take action on.
